Review games that engage students and have everyone participating are an attainable goal for teachers. My 15 years of classroom experience and a masters degree in Curriculum Design and Development helped me create these fun, competitive and educational games for students. Every teacher deserves a no prep option for review and students get an interactive experience while doing test prep. It's a win-win scenario.
This game is TERRIBLE and the kids love it! The TERRIBLE Game is a no-prep Language Arts review game where students earn points for answering correctly, but the points can be positive or negative, and you choose to assign them to your team or the opponents’ team! The goal is to have the score closest to zero at the end of the game. The game is playable with the whole class together, or you can play it in small groups. All questions and answers are included. This version is: School Level: Middle School Grade: Grade 8 Subject: Language Arts Unit: Language & Grammar Mini-Unit: Advanced Sentence Structure & Variety Topic: Identifying Run On & Comma Splice Errors Topic Description: Identify run on sentences and comma splice errors in complex writing. Questions vary in difficulty and the answer is provided after each question. The game will run on: - iPads that run PowerPoint (free app) - Smartboards - Projectors - Desktops - Laptops - Any device that runs PowerPoint This game can be played together as a class using a smartboard/projector, or it can be played by individuals and small groups on iPads or computers that run PowerPoint. Each purchaser must obtain their own license, and the files may not be shared or resold. You are welcome to create as many customized versions as you like for your own classroom use. Important Information - This game runs on PowerPoint and will not run on Google Slides. - A very small number of schools disable PowerPoint animations and hyperlinks. - If that happens, simply use another device such as a laptop or tablet running PowerPoint. - Here is a free tester game to see if your hyperlinks and animations work: The TERRIBLE Game Hyperlink & Animations Tester (https://teachersglobalmarketplace.com/products/cindy-64c7ae5879e16c0db9c4cb669e2f060d/) Please contact me through the Contact page if you find any typos, errors, unrendered LaTeX code, or technical issues so I can correct them as quickly as possible.
