Tier 2 Reading Intervention Pack: Author's Purpose and Point of View, Grades 6-8 | RTI MTSS
A complete 2-week Tier 2 reading intervention pack on author’s purpose and point of view, built by a Title I middle-school teacher for 20-30 minute small-group reteach blocks (grades 6-8). What’s inside (16 pages, black-and-white print-friendly): a 1-page teacher guide with a day-by-day reteach routine; a diagnostic probe with an original nonfiction passage (“The Lunch Line That Learned to Move”) and 5 questions; an error-analysis sheet with error-type codes (E1 topic not purpose, E2 no text proof, E3 loaded-word blind spot, E4 one purpose only) for grouping students by what they actually missed; 3 reteach mini-lessons at foundational (persuade, inform, entertain – and the clue words for each), developing (point of view in nonfiction and loaded words), and stretch (two texts on the same topic with different purposes – what each includes, omits, and wants) levels, each with original passages and practice; 4 exit tickets; a student progress-monitoring data tracker for MTSS documentation; and full answer keys for everything. Every answer in this pack requires the prove-it step: name the purpose, then point to the words that show it. All passages and questions are original. Aligned to RI.6.6, RI.7.6, RI.8.6.
