Sami's Lunchbox Interactive Adventure: Respect and Diversity SEL Lesson, Film and Games
An interactive, ready-to-teach 45-minute lesson about respect, diversity and belonging for students aged 7 to 11. Students don't just watch the story, they step inside it. It runs entirely from this download: no internet connection, no accounts and no student data.
How it works
Unzip the folder and open one file in your web browser. The animated film pauses for Pause and Predict and Choose the Ending, then students make room for Sami at the lunch table with respectful choices, name feelings with the Feelings Thermometer, catch respectful choices in the Respect Catcher, build their own avatar and earn the Respect Champion badge.
The story
Sami has been in Maple Class for a few weeks. At lunchtime he opens the meal his grandmother made, and Freddie wrinkles his nose: Ew. What's that smell? Isla laughs, and Sami closes his lunchbox. Maya tells Ms Harper straight away, and Sami's friends make room for him at a quieter table. Ms Harper teaches the class three steps, ask kindly, show respect and keep everyone included, and starts A Little Piece of Home. Freddie says sorry, and the next day Sami tells his friends about cooking with his grandmother.
