From One Cell to Trillions - a Living Environment unit on the cell cycle and mitosis, run as a week-long case file for a museum's exhibit labels: how many divisions make a body, the cell-cycle clock, mitosis step by step, counting cells in a root tip, and control, cancer and the HeLa line, Special Education and English Learner edition. Six class periods (five teaching days and a test day). Fully trilingual: English, Latin American Spanish and Haitian Creole as three separate single-language files - never a translation table.

Day 3 - Mitosis, Step by Step
Day 4 - Counting Cells in a Root Tip
Day 5 - Control, Cancer and the HeLa Line
Day 6 - Unit test.
Every day: a Do Now, an "I can ... by ..." learning target, SUPPORT / STRETCH task tiers, a partner discussion, and an Exit Ticket.
Cell counts, cycle times and quotations come from cited sources (Sender, Fuchs and Milo 2016 CC BY; BioNumbers; NIH), and practice values are SAMPLE DATA (invented) and labeled so. No picture is clip art or computer-generated: every picture is a real photograph, micrograph or historical drawing (ZEISS Microscopy CC BY 2.0; E. B. Wilson 1900, public domain) or a graph drawn in code from the numbers shown.
WHAT YOU DOWNLOAD (7 ZIP files: English in 3 parts, Spanish in 2 parts, Haitian Creole in 2 parts, because of the size of the slide decks; 37 files in all, including a README and a sources/rights file):
- 9 student slide decks (.pptx), 3 per language (81 slides per language)
- 15 student papers (.docx), one per day per language
- 3 unit tests (.docx), one per language, plus 3 answer keys
- 3 argument rubrics (.docx), one per language

Teacher supplies: Nothing.
PLEASE NOTE: The Spanish and Haitian Creole files are generated translations and have not been reviewed by a fluent science teacher. The unit has not yet been tried with students.
