Ben's Big Red Feeling Interactive Adventure: Anger and Calming Down SEL Lesson, Film and Games
An interactive, ready-to-teach 45-minute lesson about anger and calming down for students aged 7 to 11. Students don't just watch the story, they step inside it. It runs entirely from this download: no internet connection, no accounts and no student data.
How it works
Unzip the folder and open one file in your web browser. The animated film pauses for Pause and Predict and Choose the Ending, then students walk the Calm Path story game, name feelings with the Feelings Thermometer, catch calm choices in the Calm Choice Catcher, build their own avatar and earn the Calm Champion badge.
The story
It is Tower Challenge in Maple Class. Ben's team builds a brilliant tower, but Leo's elbow bumps the bottom block and it crashes to the floor. A big red feeling rushes up inside Ben like a volcano, and he shouts something unkind. With help from Ms Harper, the calm corner and flower and candle breathing, Ben calms down, says sorry and builds again with his friends.
