Teachers Global Marketplace – Privacy Policy

Teachers Global Marketplace (referred to in this policy as “Teachers Global Marketplace,” “TGM,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) has adopted this Privacy Policy to explain how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information from and about you when you access or use our website, products, features, and services (collectively, the “Services”).
This Privacy Policy forms part of our Terms of Service. By using the Services, you acknowledge you have read and understood this Policy.
1. Who this Policy applies to
This Policy applies to information we collect from:
- Visitors (people browsing without an account)
- Members (people who create an account)
- Buyers (people who purchase or download resources)
- Sellers/Creators (people who upload and sell resources)
- Community/Chat users (if enabled, including private or public teacher chat features)
2. Personal information we collect
“Personal information” generally means information that identifies you or could reasonably identify you.
A. Information you provide to us
- Account & profile details: Name (optional or required depending on settings), Email address, Username/display name/store name, Password (stored in hashed form, not readable by us), Profile details you choose to add (bio, role, teaching info, interests)
- Seller/Creator information: Payout details needed to pay earnings (handled via our payout/payment providers), Tax-related information where required by law (e.g., to issue tax forms/invoices)
- Purchases and transactions: Purchase history and downloads, Billing country/region, and limited payment metadata (we do not store full card details)
- Content you submit: Resource uploads (files, thumbnails, previews), Listings (titles, descriptions, tags, curriculum alignment selections), Reviews, comments, messages, support requests, and reports (e.g., “report this resource”)
B. Information collected automatically
- IP address and approximate location (e.g., city/state)
- Device identifiers, browser type, operating system
- Pages viewed, clicks, referral URLs, session activity
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 9)
C. Information from third parties
- Payment processors / payout providers (confirmation of payment, chargeback notices, payout status)
- Analytics and advertising partners (aggregated usage, campaign performance)
- Login providers (if you use Google/Apple sign-in, we receive basic account identifiers)
3. How we use your information
- Provide and operate the Services
- Create and manage accounts
- Enable buying, selling, downloading, and access to purchased items
- Deliver customer support and respond to requests
- Process payments and payouts
- Process purchases
- Prevent fraud and handle disputes/chargebacks
- Pay Seller earnings
- Safety, integrity, and quality control
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, spam, or policy violations
- Moderate content and enforce marketplace rules
- Run quality checks (including automated checks) to improve listings and platform trust
- Personalization and product improvement
- Recommend resources, categories, and tools
- Improve search relevance, usability, and performance
- Conduct analytics and user research (usually on aggregated/de-identified data)
- Communications
- Service emails (receipts, security alerts, account changes)
- Optional marketing emails (you can opt out)
- Legal and compliance
- Meet legal obligations, tax requirements, and respond to lawful requests
4. How we share personal information
We do not sell personal information in the traditional “data broker” sense. We may share personal information in these circumstances:
A. With Sellers when you buy or download
If you purchase or download a resource from a Seller, we may share with that Seller limited order information needed to operate the marketplace (for example: what was purchased, date, and limited location info such as country/region). We do not share your full payment card details.
B. With other users/the public when you choose to share
Some parts of TGM may be public or visible to other Members (depending on your settings), such as:
- Seller storefront name, profile image/logo, and store description
- Resource listings, previews, and public-facing content
- Reviews, ratings, and public comments (if enabled)
- Community posts or chat content (if enabled)
Important: Anything you post in public areas can be viewed, copied, or shared by others.
C. With service providers (processors and vendors)
We use third-party vendors to help run the Services, such as:
- Hosting and infrastructure providers
- Payment processors and payout providers
- Security, fraud-prevention, and monitoring tools
- Email and communications tools
- Analytics providers and (if used) advertising platforms
They are permitted to process personal information only to provide services to us, under contract.
D. For legal reasons and safety
We may disclose information to comply with law, enforce our Terms, protect users, investigate fraud, respond to court orders/subpoenas, or address safety/security threats.
E. Business transfers
If TGM is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy continuing to apply unless you are notified otherwise.
5. International data transfers
TGM is based in Australia, but our service providers (and data storage/processing) may be located in other countries.
Where personal information is disclosed overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in a way consistent with this Policy and applicable law. Australian organisations typically need to describe overseas disclosure practices in their privacy policy.
6. Children and student data
TGM is intended for adults (e.g., educators) and is not directed to children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 outside a school-directed educational context (if you later add student-facing tools, you should publish a separate Student Privacy Policy).
Sellers must not upload student personal information (e.g., student names, emails, photos, recordings) into resources, previews, or chat areas.
If you believe a child’s personal information has been provided to us, contact us and we will take steps to remove it.
7. Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational measures designed to protect personal information from unauthorised access, misuse, loss, or disclosure. However, no online service can guarantee absolute security.
You are responsible for safeguarding your password and access to your device.
8. Data retention
We keep personal information as long as needed to:
- Provide the Services
- Maintain transaction and payout records
- Resolve disputes and enforce policies
- Meet legal and tax obligations
If you request account deletion, we will delete or de-identify personal information where reasonably possible, subject to legal exceptions (e.g., records we must keep for tax, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution).
9. Cookies, analytics, and advertising
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Keep you logged in and maintain session security
- Remember preferences
- Understand site performance and fix issues
- Measure marketing effectiveness

TGM may contain links to third-party sites (e.g., Seller websites, tools, integrations). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties. Review their policies before providing them information.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we’ll post a notice on the site and/or notify you by email. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised Policy.
