The School Robotics Club
At Maple Grove School, a new robotics club was introduced for students interested in technology and engineering. Members of the club learned how to design and build small robots using motors, sensors, and basic computer programming.
During the first few meetings, students focused on constructing simple robots that could move in different directions. As their skills developed, they began experimenting with more advanced programming, allowing their robots to follow lines, respond to commands, and avoid obstacles placed in their path.
Working in teams, students shared ideas, tested their designs, and worked through challenges together. When their robots did not function as expected, they analyzed the problem and made adjustments to improve performance.
By the end of the term, the club organized a competition in which each teamβs robot had to complete an obstacle course as quickly and accurately as possible.
Through this experience, students discovered that patience, teamwork, and creative problem-solving are essential skills in engineering and technology.
